However for now it's only my DVD cover and DVD case, I have to hand them in soon, but I'd love to get another opinion. it's changed a lot since the original concept :)

Found a fun tutorial on a different way to color pencil work. Really cool! So of course I had to sketch up something quick to try it out. Turned out ok I think :)

So excited to be back in Life Drawing. ESPECIALLY since it's life drawing workshop, which means as much experimentation as we can come up with. Heres my favorites from our first class back.

first one was a 20 minute pose, 2nd a ten minute, and the last is 1 minute gestures. (I prefer the 30 second gestures but i forgot to take a picture of them)

And some sketching stuff i did to muscle out of my art block. Experimenting with inking and markers :)

A couple of people in my class (during reviews) got the recommendation to try and see how much of an animation they can make in an hour. Prince Gar the Usurper

Figured I should upload this as well. Since i've stayed up so late drawing it and all.

I recently read the duology "Kingmaker,Kingbreaker" by Karen Miller. *highly recommend it.*

Anyways, since it was the first book to make me cry for a LONG time, It also inspired me to create two pictures from it. The one you see is of Prince Gar; the cripple, the prince, the king, the weatherworker, the usurper, the betrayor... and yes it IS a guy. hmpff

It's not nearly as elegant as I wanted it to be. I'll probably do another one when I get better at digital painting.

The second ones going to be a long time coming, but i have big plans for it as it centers around the main character Asher, the innocent mage. <3<3<3>

Seriously. Go read the series. :3

well. i don't "actually" despise it. Only when i'm trying to get into digital painting and practicing skin tones do i hate it. Overall, I'm happy with it. :)

Things I dislike: The wannabe-knife *honestly can you even TELL what it is?* overall proportions, the shirt, and my GOD THE FRONT ARM! ugh. just.. ugh. hahah

But overall happy. good for practice. I want to put a background in. honest i do. But i also just want to completely abandon the thing. Maybe, someday :3

2 Classes Done and Over With!~

yup. just 1. My Bad.

I can't believe it's already the end of my first year. I mean. It feels like yesterday I just STARTED! it feels strange to think i'll be off applying for jobs, done college, before i'm 20.

Very very strange.
But still exciting :D

The last couple weeks have been pretty stressful, I'll definatly enjoy taking a break. Maybe set some time to practice animating. I'd like to spend more time on that. Also if i had a chance to start my film it'd be pretty great. Is all in my head of course, Just need the music and storyboards. Then i'll be set.

Not only did i finish my modeled Rhino, But I finished my ALT project to texture a head.

I actually enjoyed it quite a lot. All the little details that went into it, such as the Specular and normal maps add the little touches that make it that much better. Although. I didn't do that badly on the photoshop coloring either. I prt sc'd a picture of it.

The lightings not so amazing. But you get a pretty good idea.

Ain't it neat ?

Hmmmmm

How goes life you ask ?

Quickly it seems. Very VERY quickly.

and homework, takes more and more time.

But such is life :)

One doesn't fight life. It goes against our nature.

So I work on. With Miming timons, and mice lip syncs of massive proportions. Not to mention all sorts of lovely 3D projects. . . I joke. I really actually do love them! It's fun to see them when you're done. Just takes time is all.

And of course, when i need to buckle down the most, i'm feeling the most confined, so i go off and do anything other then things i'm supposed to! haha i'm kinda strange like that.

BUT

thats not what i'm blogging about tonight. I'm already DEad tired. this can't last for that long. haha . So, I found a neat club on DA. Called Childrens Illustrators, where it's really just a whole bunch of amazing illustrators whom participate in a monthly Themed drawing fest.

Now Obviously im not quite at that level. But I can still do the themes for each month and challenge myself non ?

Goodbye Goofy!

Well I can officially now draw Goofy on model at any time.

Redrawing 16 head frames 7 times over can do that too you as well.

BUT. because of that. I can now happily, nay, ECSTATICALLY! officially declare that I am done with my "goofy walks the bucket animation"

*cheering crowds in my head*

Soooooo done with it.

But it turned out quite nicely after all that redrawing. :)

There are two frames, where i'll be adjusting the head yet again. Just because it turns a little too far inwards. And though it doesn't really effect the two steps. When in the endless cycle, it seems a little awkward.

haha my gosh I need to work on my sleep pattern.

Anyways, not much this time around, I've started roughing out my script for an animated short i'd love to start. Preferably work around so that it can be part of my demo reel as well. But it's not very well developed yet. Just in the beginning stages. Other then that though.. I've added to my creature repetoire. I'll post that up, and then be off for tonight.

I'm just DONE with typing for a while.

Anyways, not much to update. Still homework, still working. On the other side however, my friend and I are finally ready to set up for Caricaturing. Its a nice way to both earn money, and

Well anyways. That and whatever else we feel like. We figured that Face painting for kids would be a good option as well. Especially if shes still not comfortable with caricaturing.

Other then that; I was doodling and came up with this neat new creature. There are things I would still want to change but the ideas at least on paper now.

But I also have one more. I drew a portrait on a whim just before my update and it's not too bad.

Again good and bad points about this. It's of Christian Bale. But not in one of his roles. So it's hard to recognize it anyways

General Happenstance

Whew..

I'm quite tired tonight it seems.

So this time it'll be short and sweet.

As i mentioned in the last post. We started a new project in 2D of an animation treadmill cycle of Goofy walking with a heavy bucket. It's going very well, and only reaffirms why I love traditional animation so much!

I've decided to post the work in progress now, and post the finished version when it's done. As of yet Goofy has one step drawn out, 2 Key frames for the second half, (probly why it looks so glitchy) and as of yet doesn't have the shadows or the splashing water. But despite missing all that, I believe the basics in it are quite strong. (which is why it's so exciting ^^)

Whale Animation

Not much new has been happening.

2D animation is going ok. I was having quite a few difficulties with a simple flag wave, however (the more difficult) Goofy walking project we started is going by in a breeze... how very odd.

Lots of creature designs, and drawings in general. Although I've been suffering a little bit of a block lately. So although I can still make drawings, I don't generally enjoy them as much.

And 3D animation ... is ... well. I need to spend more time on it. I find it to be much more frustrating then drawing things over and over and over. (Quite the opposite of my fellow classmates.) But although I don't like it as much. I still put effort into my projects and come out with fairly decent marks. But it does often feel like a chore to do. I hope that feeling will change as I get better with the program as a whole.

Due to a lack of anything else to say. I leave you with my whale animation from last term. There were definatly some problems with it, but generally I'm pleased with it.

Experiments and Quad Walk

Here I am.

Procrastinating a bit on keeping up with the blogging.

But I did come back.

So classes for our new semester are going quite well. I have several 3D Animating courses, so I'm getting lots of practice in on my modeling and texturing in XSI.

But I do miss character design.

Concept art is my calling i think. Just need to play more with different mediums. Life Drawing also goes well this term.

Since i'm now in LD300 we're playing a lot more with different mediums, and creating many diverse creatures in preperation for our sculpture we do later on.
I recently started dabbling with the effects of both ink and chalk pastels in some of my pieces, and they work wonderfully together! I definatly suggest it (if you're into the whole drawing bit that is). It's very freeing to work in pen. because you don't really have to worry about messing up. Or at least I don't.

Anyways, the lake is calling. I found my Quadrapedal Walk cycle from last term. It's just a pencil test, and very gestural. But it's fun to look at. ... .over... and over... and over... ^^ hahah sorry. Bit of an animating joke i think.

It All Begins with a Beginning

So.

I've started a blog.

Rather exciting if a little unusual.
Mainly for blatant self promotion of my artwork. To get myself out there, recieve critiques, possibly make a few industry connections...

Optimisticly that is. ^^

It'll definatly take me a while to get used to it. What with all sorts of things to keep me preoccupied. But I'm sure I'll manage.
